My daughter Beau is an amazing artist. At seven years old, she has a strong, confident line when she draws, and an uncanny way of capturing emotion on the page. She also has a definite decorative bent. I am constantly coming across her artwork and thinking, "oh my gosh, this is so great!".. and not from a proud mommy standpoint, from the standpoint of a fellow artist who is seriously inspired.
Recently Beau had a report due on Pocahontas. She had to include some drawings, and she chose to draw Pocahontas' baby son:
At which point I thought: "wouldn't this make the best pattern?!" I mean, the heart garland around the baby is amazing, right? And the little papoose swaddle?
I'm still playing a bit with the repeat and different colorways, and have several supporting patterns in the works. What do you think?
Are you ever inspired by the creativity of the little people in your life?
